WoodBlocX

GA4 implementation for a rapidly growing international e-commerce business.

About WoodBlocX

WoodBlocX is an award-winning company that manufactures the world's best modular garden system. Made from sustainable Scottish-grown timber, the clever interlocking blocks can be used to build raised beds, garden furniture, raised ponds, retaining walls and much more.

The challenge

WoodBlocX offers a range of award-winning outdoor products, such as planters and benches, made from sustainable timber, available for purchase all over Europe.

The company had eight region-specific websites running Universal Analytics, each requiring migration to GA4. In addition, the team’s marketing data was split across several Google Ads and Search Console accounts, making it time-consuming to evaluate performance across the portfolio of sites.

The solution

I worked closely with WoodBlocX to understand their business goals, target audience, and website functionality to tailor our approach to their specific needs. I also implemented ecommerce tracking to provide detailed data on sales performance and user behaviour on the website.

In addition to the GA4 migration, I created a set of bespoke dashboards that would provide the team with actionable insights and a better understanding of their website's performance. The Looker Studio dashboard was designed to be user-friendly and accessible, allowing the team to easily view and interpret data that would inform their decision-making around marketing spend.

The results

My work with WoodBlocX resulted in a successful implementation of Google Analytics 4 across all eight websites. The new analytics setup provided the company with more comprehensive data and valuable insights into customer behaviour and website performance.

With ecommerce tracking in place, the WoodBlocX team could better understand sales performance and user behaviour on the website, enabling them to optimise their digital marketing strategy more effectively.

Henry Blake, WoodBlocX CEO

“The implementation of Google Analytics 4 and our new data dashboard has been invaluable for WoodBlocX. With Google's planned sunsetting of Universal Analytics in 2023 fast approaching, we're now confident our GA4 tracking will start on solid foundations for all our sites. In addition, with performance data now in one easy-to-digest platform, our marketing team can get a snapshot of sales and website behavior anytime, anywhere. ”
